Nokia 5730 XpressMusic

All the talk around Nokia lately has been about the imminent N97 Mini and the sharp as hell Nokia Booklet 3G. However, the new Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is just as deserving of the spotlight. Taking its cue from the E75 dual-slider business blower, it looks the part. But can it keep up Nokia’s pedigree in multimedia mobiles? Read our Nokia 5730 XpressMusic review now and we’ll tell all.

Stick the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic and E75 together and you could forgiven for thinking the former was the same phone with a cute paint job. And while each phone rocks a QWERTY pad and a T9 ‘board, they really couldn’t be more different.

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is all about fun. The homescreen can be easily personalised and we quickly added our favourite contacts for one button access to texts and the like. On top of that you can also get straight int Facebook from the front page, without having to add the widget yourself. It’s a small detail but one that makes social networking a breeze from the off.

Both keyboards on the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic are ace. The full QWERTY effort is just like the one on the E75 and takes just minutes to get to grips with. Compared to the BlackBerry Curve 8520 it feels far more tactile and lets you fire off missives at a far quicker rate.

Like all other XpressMusic phones, tunes are the focus. The music software on the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is fine and straightforward, although it could be a little bit more intuitive. But that’s a general criticism rather than specific to this particular cell.

The 3.2 megapixel camera is on the right side of average, with Carl Zeiss optics giving it the edge over rivals. Chuck in N-gage access and GPS and you’re actually looking at a phone that can do far more than just spit out tunes.

Ok, the 2.4-inch screen is on the titchy side in an age where everything has to be bright and beautiful. However, if you’re after a Nokia phone but don’t want to be working all the time, the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is a great choice.
