kurt-cobain-guitar-hero-5Activision is yanking YouTube clips of Kurt Cobain singing non–Nirvana tunes in Guitar Hero 5. The move comes a month after Courtney Love used Twitter to tell the world she was going to “sue the s**t” out of the developer for using her husband’s likeness to sing songs he didn’t write.

While Activision itself is keeping schtum, users have noticed that accounts are being disabled after putting videos of Cobain singing tunes by other artists onto the video sharing site. One YouTube punter told Kotaku that, “Right before my account was shut down, the Kurt Cobain vid was removed due to copyright claim by Activision Games Inc.”

Courtney Live suing Activision over Cobain avatar

Although Love and Activision have said nothing, the use of Cobain’s image has caused huge consternation. Ex-band mates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic also slammed the games giant for its Guitar Hero 5 treatment of Kurt.

This could all lead to Kurt Cobain’s avatar being restricted to singing his own grumblings thanks to a future update. Don’t bet against it with Love on the case.
