VodafoneVodafone has just struck a deal to offer remote backup of files stashed on laptops and desktops belonging to network customers. Who needs a Time Capsule when you can chuck it all on the cloud instead?

Vodafone has just announced a partnership with Decho to “develop a range of cloud-based services for both business customers and consumers”. The first of these will be Vodafone PC Backup, rolling out later this year for Vodafone fixed and mobile broadband subscribers, which lets you hoard your data online and access it from anywhere with net access through a browser.

Vodafone PC Backup will be “unlimited”, but subject to fair-use caps, and will offer 256-bit encryption for super security. It’s not a new concept, but it is yet another example of networks attempting to move beyond simple data communication to offering essential online services for customers.

Last month, Vodafone unveiled Vodafone 360, its new mobile and PC suite with social networking integration and an app store.
