psp-goNintendo head honcho Reggie Fils–Aime has torn into the PSPgo, saying he’s unsure who it’s actually meant for. The Ninty boss, renowned for speaking his mind, also said he was unconcerned by the gaming prowess of the iPod touch. Want to know exactly what Fils Aime has to say for himself? Read on.

The PSPgo has split opinion since its launch earlier this month. But Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime knows where he stands. Speaking with The Washington Post about the PSPgo, he said, “I have the utmost respect for all our competitors, but it’s interesting to try and answer the consumer question of ‘What’s in it for me?’ in that product.”

Warming to his theme, Fils–Aime went on to say that the PSPgo had a, “fundamental concept problem in terms of ‘Who’s it for?’ and ‘What’s the benefit?’”

He also said that while the iPod touch continues to grow as a gaming platform, the Nintendo DS offered an experience that couldn’t be matched by Apple’s efforts. Speaking of titles including Mario Kart and Scribblenauts, he said, “All of these experiences are very unique and very different and what you cannot find on their App Store.”

It seems Reggie’s on a mission to big up the DS ahead of Christmas. And with the PSPgo out for his handheld’s blood, it’s no surprise.
