INQ, SpotifyRemember that INQ Spotify hook-up that was revealed in August? It looks like the social networking and music streaming love-in will be bearing fruit: according to an insider, INQ is prepping the Spotify phone as we speak!

Yesterday, web music chucker Spotify and Swedish telcom giant Telia announced that they would launch a “mobile offering” within a “few months”. That could mean Spotify preloaded on to phones, but according to a source, it actually spells a Spotify branded phone – and INQ is making it.

INQ Spotify phone prepped?

The tipster tells TechCrunch that INQ, maker of the social network juggling INQ1 and INQ Mini 3G, is putting the Spotify phone together, and is in the design stage right now. But INQ is based in London and owned by Hutchinson Whampoa, which also owns network 3, suggesting that an INQ Spotify phone could get a much wider rollout than Scandinavia.

An INQ spokesperson declined to comment on the report, saying “we don’t have any information about that”, but INQ’s CEO Frank Meehan currently sits on the board of Spotify, representing Hutchinson Whampoa boss Li Ka-shing’s charitable foundation, so an INQ Spotify phone would certainly be feasible.

Spotify also declined to comment, but if the source is on the money, you can expect both side to stay tight lipped until an INQ Spotify phone is ready for unveiling.
