Forza Motorsport 3 has only just zoomed onto the Xbox 360. But already the team behind the killer car franchise is talking up Project Natal, suggesting it won’t be long until we’re all getting into hands-free driving. Keep reading for the full story.
Forza 3’s game director Dan Greenawalt has bigged up Project Natal, dubbing it a “revolution”. Nattering to the chaps at CVG, Greenawalt was gushing about the new system, first touted back at E3 in June.

“The moment we saw Natal, everybody was buzzing. There’s so much potential for what we could do here,” he said. “We saw Natal and we don’t know if it’ll take ten years, or five years, but the potential for me and my team to not only do some really cool gameplay mechanics but also to get people who are intimidated by controller excited is immense. It’s like a revolution.”
That sounds very much like Greenawalt is priming Forza for a Natal makeover. We took Need For Speed a spin on Project Natal while we were in LA over the summer and can confirm it’s beyond incredible. Chuck Forza into the mix and you’re looking at something full-on petrolheads can get truly buzzed about.

I can envision how much this will suck right now… Trying to track hand movements, will be horrible, and will be less accurate than Wii Sports…
Sure it’ll take work, but NFS was great when I played it at E3 behind closed doors. Surprisingly intuitive and I was very sceptical after the press conference. Anything that pushes the boundaries has to be good.
I’ve yet to play it of course but having seen clips of burnout being played using Natal it does look awful. And I’d hate having to put my foot a little bit forward for breaking and accelerating.
Anyone here tried using the Wii wheel for Mario Kart? It’s horrible. I don’t know how some people online get all the gold stars using it.
I actually like the steering wheel on Mario Kart Wii. Feels a lot better and different than using the Wiimote. If I was to wave a chocolate bar in my hands and try to play mario kart it would feel the same as using the Wiimote. The steering wheel feels more comfortable and I feel less silly funnily enough.
