The Sony VAIO L iMac killer got outed this morning, and while you’ve already copped all the details on the all-in-one already, we thought you might like a side order of hands-on photos to go with them. Read on for all the in the flesh piccies!
There’s not a lot separating the Sony VAIO L from the Medion Touch all-in-one we saw last month: both offer up full HD screens, Blu-ray and finger friendly displays. But the Sony VAIO L injects an extra element of class: the polished black look and angular shell mean it’ll happily replace your existing TV in your living room (The Sony VAIO L has a Freeview tuner built in), and Sony’s VAIO Gate bar works brilliantly on a touchscreen. The drag down quickstart menu reminded us a lot of Palm’s webOS layout on the Palm Pre, but on a screen eight times as wide.
Sony VAIO L all-in-one unveiled
Sony’s also bundled in a slick wireless island keyboard and mouse with the Sony VAIO L, so you won’t have many problems using it as the primary PC in your house either.
Our hands-on session didn’t go without a hitch though. Sony also proudly announced the new Media Gallery software preloaded on to its Windows 7 machines today. It’s aimed at making photo and video viewing ultra easy, but it seemed to be far from the case in reality: a Sony rep on hand couldn’t get it to load anything while we were there.
Still, if you’ve had your eye on a TV/PC combo to save money and space in a small flat, the Sony VAIO L is well worth a look. Take that gander right here in our hands-on gallery, and stay tuned for more Windows 7 goodies incoming.
Out 22 October | £TBC | Sony
