Windows 7 launch day is nearly upon us, and Sony’s chosen today to out its new models to celebrate, including the Sony VAIO CW. It’s a 14-inch number with some healthy specs to go with Microsoft’s new OS, including an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz processors, a 320GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM and a sharp WXGA screen in 16:9 ratio for watching video.

There’s also dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M graphics and a HDMI port, so you can hook it up to you telly to thunder through HD movies from the optional Blu-ray drive.

Finally, there’s instant-on for quick booting if all you need to do is a bit of web browsing on the Sony VAIO CW. We’re still chasing UK pricing since Sony likes to keep helpful things like cost close to its chest, but the US version of the Sony VAIO CW starts at $799.99 (£500). Even with tax slapped on top of that, that’s a fine price for the Sony VAIO CW, so the forecast is sunny for this one.
