Palm PixiA UK launch date for the Palm Pixi, Palm’s candybar followup to the webOS fuelled Pre smartphone, has still yet to be announced, but a European version has already been spotted online. Is a release nearer than we think?

Palm told us it had vague plans for the cheaper, smaller 3G Palm Pixi to come to the UK, but this snap of what appears to be a GSM network model in Vietnam suggests it’s gearing up for launch already. Sprint, the US network the Palm Pixi will be exclusive to, uses a different type of network, CDMA, suggesting that this is destined for European markets primarily (Although it could be headed to AT&T and T-Mobile in the US too).

Palm Pixi official and UK bound

Here’s where it gets interesting though: the Palm Pre suffered exactly the same leak, from exactly the same country, just one week before O2 announced it had bagged it this Summer. We’d be very surprised if the Palm Pixi launched before Christmas over here, but the way things are looking, it might not be long after. We’ll keep you posted.
