An official Digg iPhone app is finally underway, potentially letting users chuck their favourite new posts and blogs straight on to the site sharing service without fumbling around in Safari or relying on third party solutions. Read on for the ins and outs of what to expect.
Web 2.0 socialite and Digg founder Kevin Rose was on hand at the Future of Web Apps conference in London last week, where he was spotted playing with a trial version of an official Digg iPhone app.

Rose wouldn’t say what functionality the Digg iPhone app would offer, batting off questions by telling eager journos “You’re not even supposed to know about that”.
Currently, there’s a mobile version of Digg optimised for the iPhone in Safari, with the ability to dig links and see the top 5 comments on each link, but a native Digg iPhone app could make the experience much smoother. Cnet speculates that the Digg iPhone app would have to run a browser within it in order to function (thanks, lack of multitasking), but it looks like we’re nearing officialdom on the Digg iPhone app, so answers should be just around the corner.
