Sony’s joining in the fray and getting to grips with wireless electricity, with its crack team of science bods ramping up the efficiency to the point where invisible juice will power whole TVs. Is a cordless Sony Bravia on the way?
Most commercially available wireless charging solutions, like the Palm Pre’s Touchstone or Dell’s slick new Latitude laptop, still require contact points to transfer the goods, but Sony’s wireless power supply system uses magnetic resonance to sling power over the air.

Currently, Sony’s reaching over 60% efficiency, with 60W within a 50cm range from source, meaning that so long as there’s a plug socket nearby, a wireless TV would sit on the wall with no cables jutting out.
Sony’s still keeping a launch date for the tech close to its chest, but since CES in January inevitably brings a battle of the ludicrous TV features, could we expect to see a Sony Bravia TV with wireless power wizardry baked in? We’re hopeful.
