It’s been a while since WowWee wowed us with a new plastic android, but in true bus style, two have turned up at once! The firm has just added the WowWee Roborover and WowWee Joebot – which we first spotted at CES way back in January – to its official site. Read on for all the deets on this new pair of plastic robopals.
The WowWee Roborover is aimed at a younger crowd, and features a set of tank-style tracks, allowing him to tackle rough terrain and inclines. There’s a lamp to keep his path illuminated, and he’ll automatically spot and avoid obstacles. He can also be directly controlled with a remote. According to WowWee he’ll develop a personality over time, depending on his surroundings. He’s priced at $69.99 in the US and €79.99 in Europe.
The WowWee Joebot, meanwhile, is the first WowWee robot compatible with voice commands, and will respond to certain key phrases. He’s a traditional walking robot, but comes with a new “fast and fluid” motion that should see him zipping around your living room less stiffly than the Robosapien et al. He can tell jokes, beatbox, dance, play a game of Simon Says and even have a fight with you – shoot him with an IR remote control and he’ll enact a little “death” scene. And when he does fall over, he’ll even ask you to help him back up. He’s priced at $99.99 in the US and €99.99 in Europe.
