band-heroPoppy, kid-friendly Guitar Hero spin-off Band Hero will come with brand new instruments, apparently offering a marked improvement over Activision’s existing Guitar Hero kit.

First up is a spanking new drum kit, which features quieter “floating” pads (handy if, like me, your Keith Moon-like drum solos have got you in trouble with the neighbours), plus new, more responsive kick pedal. There’s a second pedal port for hooking up two pedals, which come into play when you tackle the Expert+ tracks coming up as DLC.

The guitar is also getting an upgrade, with an improved strum bar and neck slider, plus a few cosmetic buffs – namely chrome-effect pegs and a red and white faceplate.

Both new instruments will, naturally, be compatible with the relevant Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles. Band Hero will launch on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PS2 soon.
