Toshiba Satellite T110 and T310 laptops unveiled

The Toshiba Satellite T110 laptop is the Tosh’s entry into the new thin and light ultra portable category Sony and Samsung are battling in, and with impressive specs for a knock down price, it threatens to crush them both. Read on to find out how and why.

The 11.6-inch Toshiba Satellite T110 is the first laptop from the Japanese giant to use Intel’s low power CULV processors, allowing for a battery life of up to 11 hours when unchained from the wall – that’s a flight across the Atlantic, with juice to spare.

Specs-wise, the Toshiba Satellite T110 comes with a 1366×768 screen which ought to be capable of 720p video playback, or Toshiba is asking for it by including a HDMI port, and there’s space for up to 3GB of RAM and a 250GB HDD to stomp all over your average netbook.

Also announced was the 13-inch Toshiba Satellite T130, available in the same black and red shades, but with more RAM (4GB) and twice the storage space at 500GB. We’re more intrigued by the Sony VAIO X toppling Toshiba Satellite T110 though, since the lack of an optical drive starts nagging once you upgrade to full laptop size.

The Toshiba Satellite T110 and T130 will be available from late October (You know, Windows 7 time) with prices kicking off at a very reasonable £429.

Toshiba’s not actually said, but I’m chasing now. Like I wrote, it’d have to be something not too shabby to merit HDMI.
