Another day, another network signs up to sell the iPhone! After Orange’s announcement yesterday, Vodafone announced this morning that it will also sell Apple’s handset in the UK, slipping the iPhone 3G and 3GS into its line up for 2010.
It’s sure to spark a price war on tariffs, bundles and freebies, as well as letting Apple fanboys finally bag the phone on a network of their choosing. It should also drive the cost of purchasing the handset itself down.
Vodafone is believed to have signed its iPhone deal with Apple as late as last night, and according to reports by The Telegraph it isn’t the only network hankering after the phone now O2’s exclusivity has slipped.
Virgin Mobile is also reportedly “desperate” to sell the handset. That only leaves 3 and T-Mobile without an iPhone plan being publicly discussed.
However, with an Orange and T-Mobile merger on the cards, it’s looking increasingly like Apple’s plan is complete saturation of the UK mobile market. Stay tuned and check out Vodafone’s site at www.vodafone.co.uk/iphone to register your interest.
