The Dell Latitude Z laptop with wireless charging skills we heard about earlier this month is real, folks, and it’s even smarter than we first thought, stuffing in all sorts of wireles connections to remove the cords from your life completely. Don’t you love it when a plan comes together?
We heard two weeks ago about how the Dell Latitude Z would charge like a Palm Pre on a Touchstone, but the skinny 16-inch portable does even more. You can even hook it up to a wireless dock that connects to all your USB peripherals, and chats to the Dell Latitude Z over Ultra Wide Band, which it has built in (Do one, dongles).

There’s also an Instant On OS for quick booting the Dell Latitude Z for things like email, but the difference is it runs on a separate, low power chip, similar to the Asus M50 laptop concept we saw back at CES in January, so it’ll save battery power too. The bezel on the right hand side of the screen meanwhile can be tapped to bring up shortcuts.
We’re pretty stunned by the Dell Latitude Z: it’s shaping up to be one of the first true innovations (alongside touch) in laptop tech in a good while, if also potentially one of the most expensive. We’re chasing Dell UK right to see if it’ll hit Blighty when it does Dell’s homesoil, the US, so stay tuned.
