Apple iMacPlans for a new iMac appear to be gathering pace, with rumours of new features starting to zip about the web. Word is the redesigned all–in–one could come crammed with a SD card reader, quad-core processors and even Intel’s Xeon inside. Want more, Mac fans? Read on.

Chatter about a new iMac emerged just days after Apple’s recent iPod unveiling. And now there’s some techie flesh to add to those gorgeous gadgety bones. According to French site Mac4Ever, inside sources have told them the new iMac will pack in a SD card slot, Intel Xeon and even a quad-core processor.

Aside from these internal refreshes, the new iMac will also come with an aluminium remote to replace the current plasticky white version, plus a touch–enabled mouse, if the reports prove correct. Perhaps Apple’s getting a tad concerned about the spanking new Wacom tablet.

If Apple does introduce a new iMac, you can expect a sleek new design as well. Analysts reckon it’s coming and with Christmas on the way, you can bet Jobs will want to be hitting a Cupertino stage soon, with dollar signs in his eyes.
