The Electrolux Cocoon cooker is the latest winner of the kitchen kit company’s Design Lab awards, and it’s the most unusual oven we’ve ever seen: it “grows” meat and fish in packets, just like they were popcorn! Read on for the video.
The Electrolux Cocoon is a concept cooker from Swedish design student Rickard Hederstierna that automatically senses what food had been placed inside, then uses RFID signals to heat up muscle cells. The result? Your dinner will rise up, ready to eat!
Electrolux modular fridge revealed
Hederstierna, who wins €5,000 (£4,600) and an internship for his efforts, goes so far as to claim the Electrolux Cocoon helps the environment by removing the need for intensive farming. We’re not sure about that, but at any rate, the Electrolux Cocoon is a lot less feasible than last year’s winner, the modular fridge, so don’t expect to see it being used in your local Wetherspoon just yet.
Give that play button a whirl to see more about the Electrolux Cocoon, and stay tuned for more on the runners-up!
