The Samsung NC10 remains one of the very best netbooks out there. So why has Sammy seen fit to roll out the Samsung N140, a micro machine that looks all but the same from the outside? And is it really worth stumping up for one? Read our full Samsung N140 review and we’ll tell all.
It’s true. Pick up the Samsung N140 and you’ll be hard pushed to tell the difference between it and the excellent Samsung NC10. But power this little number up and you’ll find it brings way more to the netbook party than its older sibling.
See, while the Samsung N140 still has the same Intel Atom inside, along with the usual 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD, its beefed up battery and slick keypad make it well worth a look. We squeezed an epic 9 hours from it, meaning it can last all but the longest of flights and is perfect for working and social networking on the move.

The mouse and keys feel even more tactile than before, a real win considering that the original Samsung NC10 had a cracking QWERTY which put its rivals to shame. But that’s not say the Samsung N140 is without its problems.
This is still very much a basic netbook. The 10.1-inch screen is a measly 1024×600 effort, which was fine way back when, but compares less favourably to newer models. Chuck in Windows XP and you’ll soon see that this isn’t the wholehearted upgrade you might have been after.
Of course, Windows 7 is getting closer by the day. And that means that you should really put your credit card in a safe place and hunker down. Either until the XP versions get slashed in price, or just for a nice future–proof Samsung N140 cramming in Windows 7.
