Pure Digital created a market for cheap, easy to use camcorders and other manufactures have been trying to muscle in on it ever since. JVC is hoping a snazzy outfit is enough to lure the public away from the dowdy looking Flip.
JVC’s Picsio GC-FM1 is more than just a swanky looking upright camcorder, though. It packs an 8-megapixel sensor and can capture that all important 1080p HD video.
There’s no built in memory, but it shoots to SDHC card so you can easily add more storage if you’re running low. A little bit on the stingy side, though, JVC hasn’t included a card in the box to get you going so you’ll need to remember to pick one up at the same time.
Movies are snapped in H.264 format and you can stick them straight up on YouTube without any messing around. There’s digital image stabilisation to help if you’ve got the DTs and it should keep rolling for 96 minutes from a single charge.
