New Super Mario Bros for Wii: hands-on video

If you’ve peeped our New Super Mario Bros hands-on video already, you’ll know we’re already hooked from our first play, and Nintendo has let slip about a few more features to make it more enticing: there’s also a penguin power-up to slide across levels on your stomach, and a dynamic help feature, which will show you how to complete a level if you get stuck. It’s shaping up to be the one of the prime titles this Winter so stay tuned for more coverage.

Not a fan, eh? I’ve been fortunate enough to play a preview though, and I have to admit it’s very good. The multiplayer introduces a whole new mechanic to Mario platforming. You’ve got to get to the end of the level, but try and thwart your opponents still too, by running them off the screen (but not all of them) Micro Machines style. Unless you’re into MW2-style shooters only, it honestly will be worth a look in.
