Oh dear. It looks like Microsoft can’t keep anything secret from the internet at the moment. Especially where Gizmodo is concerned. Hot on the heals of the Courier tablet leak yesterday, Giz has now got snaps of Project Pink too. Read on to see how it shapes up against the iPhone.
Microsoft is hedging its bets and putting out two models to start: Turtle and Pure. Turtle is short and squat – a bit like a Palm Pre that’s bulked up on one too many protein shakes – while Pure looks more like the Nokia N97. Except chunkier again too.
The phones will be made by Sharp and they’ll sport both Sharp and Microsoft badges. Sharp also made the Sidekick handsets that are available in the States for Danger, before it was snapped up by Microsoft, which explains why Sharp is still involved.
That’s the facts for now, but the ever eager rumour mill is predicting we’ll see Zune services come to Project Pink too and there’ll even be an app store as well. Microsoft has a phone launch lined up for 6 October, so we should know all the deets by then.
