If you thought things had gone a little quiet on the Project Natal front, think again. Microsoft has been busy cheerleading its no-controller-required Xbox 360 add-on around the industry and results have been enthusiastic, even if MS does say so itself.
The big M took the wraps off Project Natal just three months ago at E3. It’s now taken time out at the Tokyo Game Show to unveil the laundry list of developers that have jumped aboard the Natal bandwagon, waving their arms around furiously in front of their faces.
It goes a little something like this (deep breath): Activision Blizzard, Bethesda Softworks, Capcom Co. Ltd, Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, Konami, MTV Games, Namco Bandai, Sega, Square Enix, THQ Inc. and Ubisoft. And that’s just the elite publishers, according to Microsoft.
“Project Natal gives the industry’s creators and storytellers the freedom to dream of new experiences and to tell stories never before possible,” said Don Mattrick, senior vice president for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, predictably. “The support of these creative partners testifies to the excitement that Project Natal is generating among the most innovative minds in the industry.”
All very well, but when it comes to details and release dates, all Microsoft would say is: Further details of publishers’ new Project Natal-inspired projects will be released at a later date.
