gmailPush Gmail for iPhone has been given the official nod by Google, meaning your emails will now land on your Apple blower without it having to go on the look out for new messages. Keep reading for every last detail.

Previously, push Gmail on the iPhone was only available through 3rd party apps, such as GPush. Now Google has decided to take the plunge and unleash it officially.

The move sees Gmail move alongside Google Sync for Contacts and Google Calendar, which are already always-on and connected to the Big G’s servers.

GPush brings push Gmail to iPhone

You’ll need iPhone 3.0 to get stuck in. Anything before that doesn’t support push notification in 3rd party apps. All you need to do is head to m.google.com/sync and follow the simple instructions. The good news is that iPod touch lovers can also play nice with push Gmail for iPhone.

And on top of that, Google has also confirmed push Gmail for Windows phones too. Perfect if you’re plotting a Windows Mobile 6.5 purchase.
