Firebox nabs magic iPod dock wand

Looking for the quirkiest stocking filler possible? Firebox has the answer: it’s flogging a phenomenal wand remote control which will control your iPod dock or just about any household gadget with a flick or a twirl. Want to know when you can bag one? Keep reading on through.

Boys toys vendor Firebox has confirmed that it’s selling the Wand Remote Control from 16 October, an authentic looking Dumbledore stick that shoots out infra red commands based on the motions you choose.

We’ve had a go with the Wand Remote Control, and it’s ace. It’s completely programmable and can be rigged up to work with any gizmo that can learn IR controls. We tested it with an iPod dock, pausing and playing with downward swing, and tweaking the volume by pointing and rolling. We also had some japes flicking a light switch on and off in between. It works seamlessly, and looks the part too.

The only downer? Yelling “Shazam!” or “Avada Kedavra!” whilst motioning with the wand doesn’t fire out lasers or bunnies. It’s up to pre-order on Firebox right now, so smack that link below to place dibs on yours.

Out 16 October | £49.99 | Firebox
