sky-HD-boxSky 3D might still be a pipe dream for most TV fanatics. But plans for a Wi–Fi home sharing network from Sky sound far more realistic and could be just around the corner according to web tittle tattle. Keep reading for all the details.

Sky is plotting its very own home sharing system over IP, if the fellas at Automated Home are on the money. They’ve spoken to an insider who says Sky has started surveying punters about its entire service, with wireless video key to the future.

Sky 3D channel confirmed

The move would see IP used to share clips around your gaff, with video on demand said to be a big part of Sky’s plans. Word is the whole change will lead to multiroom prices increase from £10 a month to a stonking £45 for the fully networked solution.

All this would be backed up by a new Sky+ box packing a massive terabyte of storage. That’s a lot of naff movies from Sky Comedy, not to mention hours of Gillette Soccer Saturday.

    Why would you even complemplate this, when you can get a PS3 doing proper HD (not Sky’s massively compressed HD) today, for free?

    I’m still waiting for Sky to release more information about their deal with Xbox360. Would love to stream football matches on my console, but it’s all been quiet for 6 months.

    @Tim
    From my understanding, streaming the EPL to your Xbox is definitely on the cards. I had some time with MS at E3 and they showed me it doing just that, plus on demand highlights. It has to be said the US exec talking up Wigan v Sunderland was a bizarre experience.

    You’re right though, they need to get a shimmy on and announce something.
