Cowon‘s been quiet of late, but the upstart Korean PMP pimp has new iPod shuffle killer cued up, and now word’s out that release is just around the corner. Read on for what we know.
Think Apple’s the only cat that knows how to make a buttonless, screenless MP3 player? Cowon’s been teasing this sexy digital dogtag on its homepage for a few months now, and it outclasses even the new iPod shuffle Special Edition when it comes to looks.
Called the Cowon iAudio E2, the specs are still unknown, but obessesive fan site cowon-news now reports that it’ll be made official “within days”.

Also on the cards is a sequel to the Cowon iAudio 7, the iAudio 9. No we don’t know what happened to 8 either, but it must be a big upgrade over the iPod shuffle-with-a-screen sized version 7 to skip up two whole numbers.
Fingers crossed, peeps. We love the iPod shuffle’s gym bunny form, but if Cowon can improve audio quality as well as looks with the Cowon iAudio E2, we’ll happily jump ship. Just remember to let us use our own headphones please, Cowon.
