Pioneer-CDJ-2000-2

The Pioneer CDJ-2000 knocked the socks, or should that be headphones, off the tech press at its London unveiling last night. It’s a DJ controller, but one intent on banishing laptops from the dancefloor.

It’ll hook up to USB sticks or hard drives full of music, as well as connecting to other kit using IP technology. It’ll also play CDs, and automatically records your mixes, so you can review them later on to fine-tune your turntablism. Check out our hands-on photos to see it in action!

The Pioneer CDJ-2000 differs from most DJ controllers by slapping a whopping great 6.1 inch screen up front, with a touch sensitive “needle pad” underneath to let you prod, poke and swipe your way through tracks.

Up to four Pioneer CDJ-2000 decks can work together, sharing resources (such as music files on attached hard disks) to create musical mashups like never before. Above all though, it should put an end to DJs being forced to lug a laptop to gigs, as well as dedicated controllers.

Have a peep at our Pioneer CDJ-2000 hands-on photos above, and see it in action in video right here too!
