B&O has given its excellent A8 headphones a colourful makeover, but do they still sound up to scratch? And how do they compare to the excellent Creative Aurvana Air? Read our full Bang&Olufsen A8 review now and we’ll tell you whether they’re worth a punt.

Let’s face it. Even the most hardened of gadget addicts can’t afford to lash out on some neat, design–heavy B&O kit. Which is why we love the new aluminium Bang&Olufsen A8 headphones. They won’t cause you to empty your bank balance as fast as Alistair Darling’s racking up the debt, but they will give you the same top notch quality everyone’s come to expect from Bang&Olufsen.

Latch the Bang&Olufsen A8 headphones onto your head and you’ll realise exactly why we’re keen to laud them so much. The sound is incredible and will give you just as much feel as in–ear efforts without the pain of wearing them for extended periods. There’s 50 to 20,000Hz frequency response, so even the lowest quality MP3 tracks sound like they’ve been given the CD treatment.

Ok, the bass isn’t quite up to scratch compared to some more pricey in–ear efforts, but that’s not what the Bang&Olufsen A8 headphones are about. The 22g lightweight cans will make you stand out from the pack and give your music the tickle it deserves. Sound is warm and punchy and you won’t find yourself cranking the volume high in order to pick up little details either.

The only issue really is the lengthy cable who can get into an almighty tangle if you don’t take care of it. But at around £90, you’ll be hard pushed to find anything nearly as good as these. The Creative Aurvana Air headphones are good, but the Bang&Olufsen A8s edge it.

  1. [...] Read our Bang&Olufsen A8 review now Cable freaks will be bowled over by the Sennheiser HD800s wires, which are Kevlar-strengthened and oxygen-free. Those who think this sounds over the top would be advised to head down to your nearest high-end hi-fi dealer and try a pair yourself. The difference between these and, say, the excellent Monster Beats by Dr Dre is marked. And they are amazing. [...]

  2. [...] Read our Bang&Olufsen review now There’s no price attached to the Bang&Olufsen Beocom 5 yet. But being B&O you can expect it to be eye-watering. But if you yearn to be yuppie, or just want to kick it old school, this isn’t a bad bet. [...]
