At the moment, Sony is well and truly out in front when it comes to churning out countless high–end HD TVs. And the Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 is the latest to sit pretty in our front room. But is this powerhouse worth plumping for? Read our Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 review and find out just how good it really is.

Stick the 46-inch Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 in your lounge, fire it up and immediately you’ll realise why staying in and watching the telly is so much better than spending the winter months outdoors. Picture quality is stunning, thanks to a raft of high–end features including 100Hz motion control, full 1080p HD and the excellent 24p cinema mode.

The good times don’t end there either. The Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 also crams in Bravia Voice Zoom tech, which means you can easily hear chatter above background racket like gun fights or helicopter chases. Perfect if you love spending your afternoons watching hours of Steven Seagal movies.

It has to be said that the Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 can’t compare to its LED-rocking Bravia cousins when it comes to picture quality. Blacks are not as deep and colours lack vibrancy. But then Sony’s LED efforts clock in at almost twice the price of this slab of HD gold.

Upscaling on the Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 is also right out of the top drawer, giving standard def goods a greater sheen. The only major letdown is the AppliCast web connectivity, which sadly proves that full–on web connected TV just doesn’t cut it yet.
