UPDATE: Spawn Labs has confirmed to us that the Spawn HD-720 will “definitely” be coming to the UK, but there’s no timeframe yet.
So you’ve got a Slingbox chucking TV to anywhere with a broadband connection. But what good is that if you want to play your console from afar? None, that’s what. Enter Spawn Labs’ Spawn HD-720 set top box, a brilliant device that lets you play your PS3 on your PC over broadband.
If you’ve got your console plugged in downstairs but mum’s watching Corrie, the Spawn HD-720 lets you sling that HD game on to your PC screen over Wi-Fi. It’ll connect with an Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3 and Gamecube (No Wii though), with a maximum of two hooked up at once, and even let up to three people play from afar with an adapter while you sit right there in the room button bashing away.
OnLive: Everything you need to know
How well the Spawn HD-720 actually runs remains to be seen (Your bandwidth is all important here), but the concept itself is genius. Now, you don’t have to be in the same building to play your console, so you can shut the kids up by just taking a few controllers on the road with you.
The Spawn HD-720 is shipping to US addresses from November for just under $200 (£120), and we’ve contacted them regarding UK plans, so we’ll let you know just how ambitious the company is when America wakes up.
Out November | $199.95 | Spawn Labs
