SanDisk shows off rugged card in an ice cube

SanDisk has a new CompactFlash card out this week for serious shutterbugs, the Extreme Pro. For once though, the Extreme is no exaggeration: it’s so rugged, SanDisk has gone and frozen it in a block of ice!

SanDisk was touting its new Extreme Pro CompactFlash card at a showcase in London today, and to prove just how extreme it is, it’s shoved it inside this sculpture of a Canon camera to rival anything RIM can craft.

Despite getting cold and wet for so, long, the Extrme Pro, which has a blistering read and write speed of 90Mbps, can survive the trip. Hit through the pictures in the gallery for a close up. Arctic-bound snappers, we think we’ve just found your ideal travel companion.

The card inside that ice sculpture is an older 4GB Extreme III SDHC and not one of the Extreme Pro CF or SDHC cards.
