My-O2-5

O2 launched its dedicated iPhone app today, letting customers check their tariff, scope remaining minutes and see which additional charges they’ve racked up. It’s a slick little app, guaranteed to prove useful to anyone forking out cash every month, so we took it for a spin. Read on for the results.

Setting the app up is simple. Dubbed My O2 it’s a tiny download, installing it seconds. Logging in is simple too, and a one-time affair. You’ll simply need to tap in your existing username and password, then choose a four-digit PIN for use in the future. After that you’re straight in. Simple screens show how many minutes or texts you’ve got left to chomp through, your tariff details and even the date you’ll be due for a mobile upgrade.

Handy charts show charges you’re notching up outside your monthly allowances, and even which charges apply to different calls or texts.

Have a look at the O2 iPhone app in our gallery above. It’s a handy addition, and free too. In fact, it’s so good, we’re surprised O2 isn’t begging Apple to install it as standard on British iPhones.

Keep getting an ‘Error – could not retrieve data’ message. Thought this may have been affecting everyone, but I guess not…

  • Tom

Same error here, I can never get into the app to test it.

  • David

O2 are aware of some login problems. When we tested the app it was fine, no problems at all, but according to O2′s Twitter feed quite a few accounts are unusable :(
