We’ve been waiting months, but the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is official at last. We’ve got all the specs, and the first photos of this Android touchscreen slate, so read on for all the info.
As expected, the Archos 5 Internet Tablet runs Android, and comes with up to 500GB of hard disk space inside. There’s also GPS and 800×480 screen stuffed in, plus access to the AppsLib Archos app store. There’s also Wi-Fi, but no HSDPA, just the ability to jump online by piggybacking on a 3G phone’s Bluetooth connection.
On the Android front, there are three scrollable homescreens, and they’re completely customisable. There’s also Flash support for internet video on the move.
The vanilla, 8GB SSD Archos 5 Internet Tablet starts at £199, going up to £379.99 for the 64GB SSD version, but you can get a bunch of add ons including the HD Cinema plug-in, which plays back 720p video on a big screen hooked up to the tablet. There’s also the option to add a DVR station, letting the Archis 5 Internet Tablet record live TV, or a GPS car holder to make it shout directions home.
We’re off to get hands-on with the Archos 5 Internet Tablet right now so stay tuned for fresh photos imminently.
