Apple TV price cut hits UK

appletvOur US gadget–loving brethren got some cheap Apple TV action yesterday. And now UK punters have been given some love too, with the 160GB Apple TV dropping to £219. Read on for all the details.

Having scrapped the 40GB Apple TV Stateside, Jobs has seen fit to do the same here. It means the 160GB Apple TV now costs £219, down from £263, with no other set top box in Cupertino’s arsenal.

It’s certainly an interesting move and one that poses plenty of questions. Apple’s suits ignored questions last last week on whether the killer new iTunes Extras software could work on Apple TV, while some digging inside the new iTunes formatting suggests something new is on the cards, something in 720p resolution. Just like Apple TV.

Chatter about a 250GB Apple TV is gathering pace. So when can we expect a rejig? Apple hasn’t got an event pencilled in, but don’t be surprised to hear something very soon indeed.

I’ve got 2 40Gb Apple TV’s and they’re great although they could do sooo much more. I bought both of mine in the US when the dollar rate was great so only paid £100 for each. But seriously $229 in the US and £219 here – it’s hardly going to boost their sales in the UK is it?
