Nokia Booklet 3GThe Nokia Booklet 3G is more than Nokia’s first netbook, it’s a mobile powerhouse designed to keep you working, browsing and e-mailing on the move. We’re talking 12 hours battery life, 3G connectivity and one of the slickest designs around.

But there are secrets underneath that metal shell too. Read on, and we’ll clue you in.

Tap-tastic movement sensors
Nokia’s built an accelerometer into the Nokia Booklet 3G, but it’s not just there to sense when the laptop’s being waved about. It’ll also recognise taps and bumps. Not just to prevent damage to its innards, you understand, but also to tell when you’re prodding it.

See, there’s a space to the left of the trackpad. Give the Nokia Booklet 3G a quick double tap there and it’ll wake from its sleep mode, just like some of Nokia’s accelerometer-packed phones.

Dedicated Nokia button
Take a look at the top of the Nokia Booklet 3G’s keyboard and you’ll see a dedicated Nokia button. It’s not just there for show either, give it a tap and you’ll see an all-new Nokia Social Hub pop up on screen. It’ll give you shortcuts to built-in apps, as well as the ability to send text messages, straight from the desktop to your mates’ phones.

Swappable SIM
The Nokia Booklet 3G’s designed for flexibility, letting you pop out its SIM card whenever you like and slip in a new one. That means you’ll be able to use it with, for instance, your work SIM and avoid a re-start each time.

Sure, it’s unlikely you’ll be swapping a SIM every day, but when you do need to yank it out and shove in a fresh one you’ll be glad there’s no need for a full-blown reboot.

Silent running
Netbooks aren’t typically known for being noisy, but Nokia’s not taking any chances with the new Nokia Booklet 3G. It’s using a fanless design, letting it power through apps without creating a buzz, hum or even any vibration. The only moving parts inside are inside the hard drive, which itself is nearly silent too.

It’s the first of many
Nokia’s first netbook is an impressive effort, but the Nokia Booklet 3G doesn’t sound like the last of its kind. The Big N’s already dropping hints, and asking for feedback, on its next laptop. Check the details, and see why this is just the first of Nokia’s moves towards becoming a netbook superpower.
