As Nokia Comes with Music approaches its first birthday, the Big N is finally clearing up some of the questions we asked back at its launch in October 2008: namely, whether existing users will be able to extend their subscription without forking out for a whole new phone.
Unfortunately, it seems the answer is a firm “no”, but Nokia is softening the blow by promising some tasty upgrade offers exclusively for Comes With Music’s early subscribers.
In an email sent out to Comes With Music users over the weekend, Nokia said: “because you’re among the first people to join Comes With Music, we’re putting together some exclusive offers on new Nokia Comes With Music devices.”
Rather confusingly, Nokia’s Comes With Music e-mail then continues: “You’ll be able to renew your membership and continue getting unlimited music downloads (with no additional charge) from millions of free tracks, and save money too.”
That suggests to us that Comes With Music users will need to buy another Comes With Music phone to continue downloading for free, but that all their existing downloads will continue to work, as will their existing Comes With Music account.
Nokia promises to send details of the Comes With Music upgrade in “a couple of weeks’ time, telling existing customers simply to “keep your eyes peeled.”
What do you reckon? Upgrade offers on the new Nokia X3 or Nokia X6? We already know it’s coming with Come With Music inside, and let’s face it: that £530 SIM-free price is more than a little off-putting!
