Motorola DEXTMotorola has only just shown off the Android fueled DEXT to the world, but it’s already gearing up to make a much bigger transition to the Google camp, with one exec calling the OS “our core focus” from now on. Read on for what that means for Moto maniacs.

We spoke to Motorola’s Western Europe marketing director, Simon Collinson, about the DEXT and the future of Android on Motorola, he promised us that the downtrodden company would embrace Android in a much bigger way. “Android is going to be our core focus going forward,” he told us, suggesting its other operating systems will be phased out.

Specifically, we’ll be seeing a lot more of Motorola’s custom Android skin, Motoblur, with social networking skills straight from the homescreen. “This is about the start of a service which will develop and evolve going forward…this is definitely not a one off.”

Collinson wouldn’t confirm when the next Motorola Android phone would debut, but did say that “this is not our only announcement this year.” And with the leaked Motorola Sholes still expected, we reckon that might just be another Motorola Android phone.
