Toshiba NB200

The world is awash with netbooks, so it needs something pretty special to grab the limelight. And that’s just what the Toshiba NB200 is aiming for. The slimline machine is up against some great little numbers, especially the Eee PC Seashell. So can it live up to heady expectations? Read our Toshiba NB200 review now and we’ll tell you just what to expect.

Open up the 10.1–inch screen on the Toshiba NB200 and you could be forgiven for thinking this was just about the same as every other slimmed down lappie doing the rounds. Fortunately, though, you’d be wrong. You’ll find everything from pics to video look absolutely gorgeous, making this undoubtedly one of the fanciest notebooks we’ve ever laid our hands on.

The good times don’t stop there either. The Toshiba NB200 is a real looker, let down only by a big butt (in the form of an epic 6 cell battery slapped on the rear). In fact, we’d go as far to say this manages to merge looks with sturdiness better than any other netbook out there. It really is that good.

The keyboard on the Toshiba NB200 really slaps down the competition too. While the Sony Vaio W promised so much, yet delivered so little, the NB200 is really out of the top drawer. You won’t find yourself accidentally returning to the days when spelling was as much of a struggle as tying your shoe laces. And that’s more than we can say for most notebooks.

All this top notch styling does come at a price though. £380 is a huge wedge to pay for a machine that for all its design skills still rocks Windows XP, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM and an Intel Atom processor.

However, if you’re feeling flush, the Toshiba NB200 really is one of the best netbooks you can buy right now.
