Apple’s new iPod line should be in our hands in just a few hours, but until Cupertino’s Frisco unveiling goes down, there’s still time for leaks to give the game away. And those moles are sure trying: we’ve heard a bunch of new whispers about what to expect, so read on for what we might see.
Daring Fireball’s John Gruber has chimed in with his predictions for the new iPod line, and considering he was bang on the money with the name of the iPhone 3GS, we sit up and take note when it comes to the new iPod features he’s heard about.
The new iPod touch and nano models are both shoe-ins for cameras, he says, but that’s not all in store for the new iPod nano 5G. Gruber has heard that the pico PMP will be getting a new material (Teflon? Oleophobic screen?) and an FM radio, a strange addition that no one’s clamouring for in a big way these days.
Gruber also predicts a 160GB iPod Classic and a redesign for a new iPod shuffle, based on the lack of buzz the buttonless version generated when it launched earlier this year. And as for Steve Jobs? Don’t expect to see him on stage just yet, he’s hedging.
Either way, do expect to see the new iPod line on stage tonight. We’ll be there covering it live, so keep it locked here from 6pm UK time for all as it happens.
