lg-etnaSo, you don’t fancy getting an HTC Tattoo? Handy, because LG has just exploded onto the Android scene with the LG Etna. The Korean’s first Google phone was spotted in a far flung corner of IFA over the weekend and looks a peach. So can it see off its Android rivals? Read on and find out.

At last, after months of grandstanding, it appears the Android wars are finally upon us. HTC is surging ahead, but the Samsung Galaxy and now the LG Etna look like seriously stuff competition.

The LG Etna was spied at IFA and comes packing a full QWERTY keypad, a 5MP snapper and 3–inch screen. There’s Bluetooth and USB (notch), but no word as yet on Wi–Fi and HSDPA.

Official word is due by Christmas, with plans to unleash it on Vodafone alongside the HTC Magic. LG has already bragged about its big time Android plans for 2009 and it seems the LG Etna will be first out of the blocks.

With specs like that, don’t expect it to be nestling next to the HTC Tattoo in the bargain bucket. We’re chasing LG and Vodafone for more gossip, so stay tuned.
