Spotify for iPhone, iPod touch and Android has just hit the App Store and the Android Market, bringing all the music you can cram into your ears to a smartphone near you! After months of waiting, the music streaming service’s first official apps for mobile have just landed. Read on to see just what they can do.
We knew a launch on the iPhone App Store was just around the corner for Spotify, but it’s now available for any Spotify Premium subscribers to nab here in the UK, Sweden, Spain, France, Norway and Finland. Grab it for your iPhone or Android smartphone, and you’ll be able to search by all the categories you can on the desktop, peep cover art, stream any song and even cache playlists so they’ll play when you’re out of reception.

Both versions will stream music over 3G or Wi-Fi to get those tunes right to your lugs. The Android version can even run in the background, letting Google-powered smartphone owners crack on with e-mail, web browsing or even play games while Spotify provides the soundtrack.
If you’ve caught the videos of the Spotify iPhone app and Android version in action, you’ll know that the news should be more than enough for Apple or Google phone owners to upgrade to the paid-for Spotify service, but for other smartphone owners left out in the cold, Spotify says your welcoming hug is on the way, with Spotify apps for more mobiles soon.
