The Samsung LED TV Couple sounds like a pair who went on a blind date and bonded over home cinema, but it’s something very different. It’s a tablet and telly combo that connects over Wi-Fi to help you choose what you’re watching, like the new Toshiba JournE Touch tablet, but with a killer one-up. Read on to find out what it is.
On show at IFA, the Samsung LED TV Couple is a 55-inch TV lashed up to a 7-inch touchscreen tablet that acts as a remote, with widgets and an EPG all on show, plus the ability to dig into your PC’s storage and play back media from it.
Toshiba JournE tablet: hands-on photos!
The Samsung LED TV Couple doesn’t do full on web browsing like Toshiba’s touchtastic new slate, but it does have one crucial advantage: you can stream TV and Blu-ray to the tablet, so you won’t miss out on the action when it’s time to make a brew or, er, a number two.
The good news? The Samsung LED TV Couple is more than a concept, as the duo have been released in South Korea. The bad news? No word on when we get them over in the West too. Still, we’re looking at the future of remotes right here, so expect plenty more designs like this to come.
