Time was all lightweight camcorders came with kind of top notch extras you’ll find in the neat little Panasonic HDC–TM300. But now it stands right out form the crowd thanks to all those crowd pleasing cheap hi–def efforts. So with everything it’s got going on, is it worth a punt? Read our Panasonic HDC–TM300 review and we’ll let you know just what’s what.
Ease the Panasonic HDC–TM300 from its box and you’ll be oohing and aching quicker than a crowd of easily–swayed Covent Garden tourists. Because this number really looks, and feels, like the business. At just 400g it weighs next to nothing, and that 70×72x141mm bod’ also means it’s ideal for shoving in your man bag and whisking it off on your next trip.
That’s not to say that pics are not this peeper’s main focus. As well as offering up 11MP stills (which we found were actually a tad shonky, sadly), it also delivers slick 1080i footage via Triple HD sensors. That means shots of landscapes, faces and pretty much anything you point the Panasonic HDC–TM300 at come out crisp, clear and with more added detail than Gordon Ramsey’s craggy face.

The Panasonic HDC–TM300 doesn’t pack in the same 240GB of storage as the Sony HDR-XR520, but its 32GB is ample for a four hours of 1080i footage. Plus it means the size is kept to a minimum. However, it does fall down against similarly priced rivals when it comes to that viewfinder. The touchscreen on it is frankly farcical and makes prodding the likes of the Orange Vegas feel pleasurable.
Thankfully though, that is the Panasonic HDC–TM300’s only major failing. And if you can live with it this is well worth making a beeline for.
