UPDATE: LG says the LG BD390 will sell for approximately £250-300 (store dependent), and hits the UK at the end of the month.
The LG BD390 is LG’s latest Blu-ray bad boy that steps things up a notch or eight by ditching the wires. Like Sony’s top BDP-S HD slingers, it’s got Wi-Fi built in so you can cut the cords and tell’em to do one, but that’s not all it does. Read on for the full skinny.
Following the sensible trend Sony started, the LG BD390 throws wireless net connection in so you don’t have to keep your Blu-ray next to your router, but it goes an extra step by making it DNLA certified too, so you can share media from any gizmo sporting those same four letters.
The net functions also mean the LG BD390 is BD Live friendly, but we’re all about the YouTube browsing that’s integrated too. Needless to say, the LG BD390 trots out full 1080p viddy, 7.1 sound output, and a whole host of file formats, including DivX and even MKV – ideal if you’ve got HD movies stashed on an external hard drive, as you can just plug in and go through the USB port (or stream).
The LG BD390 is out later this month in the UK – we’re chasing pricing now.
