The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is the latest addition to the world’s most famous mobile email family, bringing a hefty dollop of style and panache to the BlackBerry gene pool, not to mention a few new tricks. Watch our video and see BlackBerry’s latest business phone in action!
From the outside, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 has a traditional design, there’s been little tinkering with the overall shape or form, with just a few nips and tucks here, and a few more rounded corners than previous models.
But don’t be mistaken, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 is all new. Up front there’s a touch-sensitive trackpad, which replaces the old fashioned trackball and adds a touch of grace to the phone’s navigation. There’s also the familiar QWERTY keyboard, well-spaced and designed to make bashing out even lengthy missives on the move as easy as possible.
As you’d expect, setting up email on the BlackBerry is handled with grace and simplicity. This is the BlackBerry Curve 8520’s bread and butter, and tapping in your account details instantly unlocks your account and begins syncing mailboxes.
But the BlackBerry Curve 8520 can handle more than just email and phone calls. A ton of instant messaging apps run happily on its polished screen, including Windows Live Messenger, ICQ, AIM, GoogleTalk, Yahoo! Instant Messenger and BlackBerry Messenger.
There’s also Facebook and Twitter integration built-in, and a neat MySpace app to tap into social networks wherever you are. And speaking of location, since the BlackBerry Curve 8520 also packs GPS inside you’ll be able to use Google Maps or BlackBerry Maps to find your way around town, quickly searching for destinations and grabbing directions on the device.
Add to all this the ability to download more apps on the move using the BlackBerry App World store, and the BlackBerry Curve 8520 looks like being the best mobile phone from the BlackBerry stable in years. See it in action in the video above.
