Toshiba TVThis year’s IFA has been flooded with telly news, but it’s not all thin screens and 3D pictures, Toshiba has been touting its TV line-up, and promising some extremely slick wireless tidbits for next year, including the first screens with Transfer Jet and Wireless HD connections.

First Toshiba showed Transfer Jet and Wireless HD as a firm part of its roadmap for the coming year, and then it let slip that, by 2010, all models will have Transfer Jet technology inside.

For the uninitiated, Transfer Jet is a super-fast wireless transfer technology. Place two gadgets with Transfer Jet inside near each other, and they’ll blast data to and fro in seconds. It’s like a super-powered bluetooth, but much slicker, and quicker, with no need for pairing codes.

It’ll make showing off photos from digital cameras or mobile phones on the big screen a breeze, as long as the other kit in your house has Transfer Jet inside, of course.

Maarten Joost Moller, Toshiba’s man on the floor at IFA, told us “all Toshiba TVs will use a USB adaptor to transfer videos, pictures and music using Transfer Jet in 2010.”

Wireless HD, meanwhile, will put an end to trailing cables, hooking Toshiba’s 2010 Regza TVs up to set top boxes and the like with wireless connections, but still allowing full HD pictures.

The first Regza TVs to feature both Transfer Jet and Wireless HD will be released next year, we’re told, while Toshiba laptops packing the technology are due to debut before March.
