Want OS X Snow Leopard on a speedier machine, but can’t face forking out on a new Mac? We feel your pain, as does Psystar, which has started the dubious practice of hawking its own machines running OS X Snow Leopard. That’s right, new Mac clones, even as it continues to battle Apple in court.
Announcing the move on its company blog, Psystar said “We support Snow Leopard on all new Psystar machines and we’re already taking orders for computers with the latest OS from Apple.”
The company’s Mac clones running OS X Snow Leopard will begin shipping next week, it said.
The company is even selling Snow Leopard as an optional $69.99 upgrade from the older OS X Leopard, bundling a copy of the iLife and iWork software suites too.

All in all, it’s enough to take the shine off Apple’s shiniest new Macs, running its whizziest operating system yet.
However, there’s still plenty to be wary of for anyone using a Mac clone. Psystar has warned them not to upgrade their own machines to OS X Snow Leopard as doing so may “cause harm to your computer.”
Sounds ominous, and hints that Apple has built several safeguards into the OS X Snow Leopard install procedure to stop it running on non-official Macs.
In the meantime, Psystar simply states “We will be releasing information on upgrading your Psystar computer to OS X Snow Leopard soon”
