LG’s been teasing us about the LG Chocolate BL40 since close to the dawn of time, but now it’s finally here, and we’ve just got fingers on with the widescreen phone. Is it a stylish stretch limo of a blower, or just a chavvy hen night mobile? Read on and see for yourself.
We already knew what the LG Chocolate BL40′s main selling point was since we caught an early leaked video: at 4.1-inches wide, it’s got a touchscreen display with an aspect ratio like no other. What that means for you is glorious widescreen movies and web browsing, and dual screen viewing for features like your SMS inbox, so you can see all your messages, as well as their full content at the same time.

And how does the LG Chocolate BL40′s crazy concept pane pan out in real life? Highs and lows, swings and roundabouts: movies look beautiful and the tempered glass gives it a polished look few other phones can match. But it’s about as responsive as a celebrity being hit on by a fan when push comes to prod. It’s a real struggle to get any on screen buttons to activate, and that there are so many on view at once doesn’t help matters.
Still, with 3G and Wi-Fi on board as well, the LG Chocolate BL40 is one mean feature phone if you can overlook that. It hits network shops and Carphone Warehouse stores up and down the land from next week; look for our full LG Chocolate BL40 review shortly.
