Activision has announced plans to let Guitar Hero 5 owners import tracks from earlier versions of the game. Unlike Rock Band owners, though, Guitar Heroes will have to pay for the privilege.
Guitar Hero fans might have been a bit envious at yesterday’s news that Rock Band owners can share tracks between different versions of the game. Activision have responded with the news that – yes – GH5 will be able to import tracks from Guitar Hero: World Tour. Unfortunately, this won’t come for free.
“Immediately, players can import 35 songs from Guitar Hero World Tour for 280 points on Xbox Live and $3.50 on the PlayStation Network,” said an Activision spokesman, talking to USA Today.
Activison also confirmed that tracks from Guitar Hero: Smash Hits (launched later this year) will be importable too.

Uhh.. Rock Band cost money too. To transfer from RB1 to RB2 it costs $5.
You clearly didn’t do your homework. Rock Band players also had to pay a licensing fee for importing RB1 songs into RB2.
This is how bloggers lose credibility u know, if u had any to begin with.

21 from Smash/Greatest Hits apparently, kind of makes it pointless to do the import. In rockband you loose 2 or 3 songs if i recall, so swapping the disks is not an issue, making the import a great idea. For GH5 you still need to swap disks for the bulk of the GH:WT and GH:SH tracks, so the import is pointless unless you are very lucky and the imports consist of all the songs you liked.
